We are a Specialist Ophthalmology practice specializing in cataract, vitreo-retinal surgery, cornea and the anterior segment, glaucoma, and aviation ophthalmology.

 

The practice specializes in:

 

• Cataract surgery using the latest small incision phacoemulsification techniques and intraocular lenses
• Age-related macular degeneration diagnosis and effective treatment with new anti-VEGF drugs (Avastin, Lucentis)
• Vitreoretinal and macular disorders including macular hole, epiretinal membrane and diabetic retinopathy
• Eye emergencies including retinal detachment and eye trauma
• Glaucoma incorporating pharmaceutical, laser and surgical advancements
• External, corneal disorders including dry eyes, keratoconus, corneal ulcers, keratitis, and cicatricial diseases.
• Corneal transplantation

Our highly qualified staff including optometrists, clinical doctors, and ophthalmic nurses will assist the surgeons in assessing your eye conditions and performing diagnostic procedures and investigations.

Our friendly and professional team of receptionists will assist you with appointment enquiries, transport and accommodation arrangements, and operation bookings.

Appointments

Appointments at City Eye Centre are available Monday to Friday. Prior to your appointment, please ensure you have a current referral from your referring doctor or optometrist so you can claim your Medicare rebate.

A CURRENT REFERRAL is always required at the time of your consultation. There will be no Medicare Rebate if you are seen without a valid referral. Please ensure the practice has received your referral or your appointment may need to be rescheduled. Referrals can be obtained from your general practitioner, optometrist or other medical specialist. Unless specified, referrals from your GPs and optometrists remain current for 12 months while specialist referrals are only current for 3 months.

Your Medicare card, health fund details, list of current medications, allergies, and any other relevant medical details are also required at the time of your consultation.

Please advise our staff if the referral is urgent. Your referring practitioner can also contact our friendly staff for advice.

As your eyes may be dilated, please arrange transport as you may be unable to drive for at least 3-4 hours. We advise that an accompanying person comes with you. Please also bring a pair of sunglasses which will reduce problems with glare. If you are a DVA patient, please ring to confirm transport has been booked.
